COVID-19 has shown the true colors of a number of organizations. The quick responses to fund community organizations, hospitals, and programs to support the neediest among us has been nothing short of wonderful.

PNC is one of the organizations that has stepped up to help during the pandemic.

In addition to their nationwide responses, in April PNC gave a generous gift to Michigan Medicine to support efforts to fight COVID-19.

When COVID struck, Nell Dority, senior director at U-M’s Business Engagement Center, reached out to PNC client and communications director Amy McClain to ask for PNC’s help.

After a collaborative leadership meeting between PNC and Michigan Medicine’s development team, McClain asked what PNC could do to make sure Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital had what it needed to fight COVID and keep kids and families safe. PNC responded with a $20K gift to Mott for frontline healthcare workers.

“When the pandemic started, it was all hands on deck as our teams came together to meet the urgent health care needs in our community and take care of patients,” says Luanne Thomas Ewald, chief operating officer at Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital.

“We are so grateful for PNC’s support of our frontline healthcare workers during such a challenging time.”

PNC has supported C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital for many years as a component of their philanthropy –  a cause very dear to Regional President Ric DeVore’s heart. Contributing his time in addition to resources, DeVore has consistently played Santa Claus for kids at Mott for years.

“PNC is a corporate partner we can always count on. They come through when it matters to support things that are important to them, which is a reflection of their community. We are always so grateful for what they do,” shares Dority.

“As a Main Street Bank, we are deeply committed to supporting our communities where it is needed most in these challenging times,” said Ric DeVore, PNC regional president for Detroit and Southeast Michigan. “We are inspired by the many dedicated frontline workers at C.S. Mott and across the country who are caring for their fellow citizens during the COVID-19 crisis.”
